The first sight of him brings an air of excitement to the episode. The Search Bloc's new tactics shake up Pablo, but also unsettle Steve and Javier. The one man Escobar fears, Carrillo continues to push the boundaries of right and wrong.

Hugo Martinez, a veteran of the FARC conflict, became his successor.

Who would stand up to the never-ending wave of terror, death and bloodshed that was flowing through the streets of Medellín? Cartel’s direct hostilities were triggered and resulted in the murders of Minister Lara Bonilla in 1984 and murder of Colonel Jaime Ramirez Gomez in 1986. In addition, the Colombian government struck down extradition in 1991, and Search Bloc was disbanded due to Carrillo's rough play style. But who is Horatio Carrillo based upon – Hugo Martinez, Jaime Ramirez Gomez, or somebody else? Use the HTML below. He was incredibly ruthless towards any and all who stood in the way of his goal to take down Escobar, and he was known to get information out of numerous Narcos through questionable means. Was this review helpful to you? On many occasions, the Search Bloc would go in guns blazing and massacre the cartel members, such as the 1989 La Dispensaria raid in the Modelia barrio of Bogota.

Later in the series, Martínez was introduced as a character portrayed by Juan Pablo Shuk. An interview of one of the captured child spotters by Valeria Velez led to Carrillo having negative publicity, as he was portrayed as a child-killer and an American puppet.

If Roy Keane was a TV character, he'd be Colonel Carrillo in #Narcos — Cian Carroll (@CianByNature) September 2, 2016. Directed by Andrés Baiz.

You don't have to be an avid fan of Netflix's superb show Narcos to know that Pablo Escobar and his drug cartel absolutely terrorised Colombia during the late '80s and early '90s.

Rivers of blood might be running through the barrios of Medellín, but he knows that the bureaucrats only care about one thing, money. The leader of Search Bloc is pissed off because he knows that he's fighting a war that he can't win and he's doing so with one hand tied behind his back - the US are rarely 100% forthcoming with intel, the weaponry is inadequate and he's tired of sending young men to face certain death.Would he ever think of quitting?

President Gaviria has a new job for an old colleague. Our man in Madrid is an old friend. It's simply not in his code. This piece of dialogue is the finest indication that Carillo is the tough-as-nails, hard bastard antihero that Colombia needed.New episodes of Fair City to return to screens next monthNew season of Line of Duty could be finished filming by ChristmasWhile Escobar's carefully cultivated image of a slumdog Robin Hood made him a popular figure with the poorest people of Medellin, his attempted assassination of presidential candidate César Gaviria Trujillo was the clearest indication of his true nature. Agents Pena and Murphy were forced to stay behind by their boss Claudia Messina, who did not want them to be caught up in Search Bloc atrocities. If that name sounds familiar, it's because Narcos introduced him as a character in his own right in Season 2, quite possibly so they could have Carrillo do stuff that might have otherwise brought a lawsuit down on their heads. Escobar did not personally kill Colonel Carrillo as he is called on the show.

Enter Colonel Horacio Carillo, the leader of original Search Bloc. He attacked many policemen and killed over 500 one month in Medellin in the late 1980s, but not Carrillo. (November 2017) In the Netflix series Narcos, Hugo Martínez served as inspiration for the character Colonel Horacio Carillo portrayed by Maurice Compte. It is a fact that Horatio Carrillo is not a real person, but a fictional character. This being said, he's not exactly what you would call a good guy, but then again, if you're job requires you to dance with the devil then it's very likely that you're going to be burned. What makes Carillo so interesting though is that it's not just the war against Escobar that he's prepared to make a defiant and brave stand against. Carrillo é um chefe de polícia Colômbiano e líder do grupo Bloco de Busca, criado com a ajuda do DEA para combarter a força dos Narcos, é um dos principais opositores ao poder de Pablo Escobar. Escobar himself then arrived and confronted him, shooting him in the leg with a bullet that Carrillo had sent to Escobar via one of the captured spotters as a warning.
